Island life is full of vibrant and dynamic activity and can feel a bit like riding on a wave- as there are ups and downs and balancing acts day to day- just like everywhere else in the world. One thing remains constant though- and that is the sound of the sea rising and falling as the current rolls into the shoreline.
Living close to the sea is one of my favorite things about island life. I can hear the waves hitting the shoreline near my house day and night, and drive a few minutes in almost any direction to find a beach of my own. There is a meditative quality to the sound of waves that brings peace and stillness to even the busiest of minds. So no wonder that sound machines have been developed to carry the sound of waves to the inner cities and beyond. Waves are soothing and the sound of the sea brings us closer to nature and closer to ourselves.
I’ve gotten into the habit of recording video clips of my morning and evening waves and sharing them on social media just because….I like to share beautiful things! And it’s amazed me how many long distance friends have gone out their way to thank me for doing so. As it turns out, some are tuning in morning and evening for a dose of vitamin SEA and a mini meditation. I love this!
Here are few of my fave wave clips for you to enjoy as well.
Regardless of your location, close your eyes, listen, and send your worries out to sea!
