Living and practicing veterinary medicine in a small island community has given me the opportunity to experience island life and culture from a unique perspective. And it’s my pleasure to share both professional veterinary tips and what's special about life for people and animals on a Caribbean island.
Take a walk around town on a small island and you’ll hear roosters crowing, birds chirping, music playing, and people greeting you with warm good mornings, good afternoons, and good nights. Breathe in the salty air, feel the warm sunshine and breeze touching your skin. Taste the spices in local dishes and the sweetness of fresh tropical fruit. See the beauty of the flowers and bright colors painted on the buildings and get lost at sea gazing into the horizon. REMEMBER to say hello to the cat at the barber shop or the dog that ‘works’ at the surf shop. And drive slow…..you never know when you may come upon a horse or two out for stroll in the middle of the road!
